Partition
table recovery: software is able to rebuild a
partition table, MBR and extended partition records, from
scratch. Software limited to rebuilding the MBR partition
table was left out of the comparison.
Partition
table backup: software is able to back up all
partition tables, MBR and extended partition boot
records. DiskPatch partition table backups do not require
a file / original diskette to be restored (they are stored
on-disk).
Undo: a
mechanism specifically designed to roll back repairs
carried out by the software. As such a partition image
does not qualify as an undo feature.
State file: mechanism designed to allow the disk to be scanned
only once - the scan does not need to be repeated until contents of the disk
change.
