Conventions used in this User Guide

Menu items are displayed using the format:  [Item to select].

When you're required to press a key this will be displayed using this format: <Key to press>, for example <Enter>.

To select an item from a menu use your <Up> and <Down> keys. Once an item is selected, use the <Enter> to confirm the selection.

Whenever you are asked to confirm an action that might have serious consequences, the default (highlighted) selection is the "safest" option. For example, if you'd select the "wipe a sector" option from the disk editor, the confirmation box will have "no" highlighted. Pressing <Esc> in this case would cancel the requested wipe action, so pressing <Esc> during confirmations should always let you escape safely.
In addition, you can use <Esc> to abort long running operations, such as a disk surface scan.

If certain keys perform specific actions, this information will be displayed on-screen by the program.
