Title: Lacie NAS Recovery
Post by: pz49 on August 17, 2017, 05:04:05 PM
I have a LaCie NAS that has a Windows software RAID 5. Only 4 of the 5 disks are good and i have taken them out of the NAS and plugged the 4 good drives into a desktop via sata cable. If i open the Windows disk manager i see the 4 drives show up but they are showing unallocated space as if the partition was deleted. I have gone through the RAID recovery procedure and i am getting some strange results. The directory structure is showing up but when i pull data off there is a lot of corrupt data and unable to open. The other thing that i notice is that there is a few directories that are showing up as having HUGE data foot print such as one directory says it is 13TB which is impossible. Am i doing something wrong or should i be going about this recovery in a different manner? Thanks.

Hello,

Best way to approach NAS recovery is not using RAID recovery. Try again following this:
http://www.diydatarecovery.nl/irecoverhelp/NAS_recovery.htm

With the version that's linked to from that page, so http://www.diydatarecovery.nl/download_irecoverzip_delay_copy.htm
