My son did a full system restore on my sony laptop.  Is there anyway I can get my data back?

It depends on where the original data was on the disk, and how much has been overwritten by the restore. Your best best would be to run iRecover and see if anything can be found. You can use the Trial version to analyze the disk and see if files from before the restore can be found. You will need the full version to actually recover the files.
