Initial DP.log

Greetings!

I just ran the demo, and the DP.log is posted below.

Background:

For several years now I've left my PC on because of constant boot-up problems.  Upon a cold boot, I will either get the "missing or corrupt (Hal.dll or ntldr)" message. Ultimately I boot from my XP CD after running chkdsk from Recovery Console.  Other then that, things have been working pretty well.  Can DP fix my problem?

In a word: no. DiskPatch finds no serious problems and what you describe sounds very much like file system trouble, so you'll need to look elsewhere if you want to repair this. Though it sounds serious enough to warrant a re-install, as far as I'm concerned.

There is one little thing that isn't correct, as shown in this log, but I don't think that this can cause the issues you describe. If you want to know: the volume size in the boot sector is off by one sector. Given the stuff found on the disk you probably created the volumes with a third party partition tool, and not with the Windows volume manager, which could explain this. DiskPatch can be used to fix this, if you want.

I used Partition Manager in the past -- good catch!

If I imaged the disk, reformatted it, and reinstalled the image, do you think this would fix the issue?

Probably not, but if you can find a boot sector editor out there you can fix it yourself.
