Any Hints would be appreciated :-)

I have tried IRecover but it does not seem to be able
to find the file :-(

My IRecover is (V2.1)
I am waiting on someone to get back to me
on how to upgrade it to current.

I appreciate your time

Cheers

Hello,

Deleted files are special, in the sense that they are often on a live system and that they can be overwritten at any time. If on a live system, best thing would be to shut down the system at once > attach disk to another system and run undelete software from there.

BTW: XP's Outlook Express uses .dbx files. Thought I'd just mention that.

1. Your iRecover license is also valid with version 3. In this case I don't think it will make a difference though. I'd opt for option 2:

2. I'd now, on another system download iRescue, the portable exe > copy/save it on a removable device or burn it to CD. If the victim system is still running, execute iRescue > Select undelete mode > Apart from selecting source and destination click Advanced configuration > Select NTFS engine TAB > and 'tick' Recover both in use and deleted files.

Opgtionally you can disable file validation. This will save you some time.

Now close advanced settings and click the >> button.

Once scan has finished click find and enter *.pst and keep your fingers crossed. You can use the trial version to recover the file if it's found.

If the file isn't detected then there is not much hope in recovering it.

Thank You Joep

Your assistance is appreciated.

Unfortunatily iRescue does not appear to be able to detect the
outlook1.pst file :-(

Oh Well my own fault for not having a recent back up

Thanks Again

Cheers

Hello,

You still may be able to (partially) recover the file using a tool that 'undeletes' files using a signature rather than the file system. Typically most verdors refer to those tools having a RAW recovery mode. Make sure the tool specifically supports PST files: these tools need specific support for specific file types.

We do not have such a tool (other than the iRecover digital image recovery mode).
