The log seems fine, with a few minor exceptions. How far does the PC get when starting; when does the system halt? Are there any messages?
The only thing strange is the bootcode in the MBR (the first 3/4 of the first sector on the disk), it is not standard. That might be because of the Dell restore selector software, I can't tell without testing.

Thanks for responding.

At boot I get the Dell logo and some verbiage about drives and ports and something like loading...descriptor 2 it doesn't stay long enough to read.

If I hit F8 and try to boot in safe mode. Then click on the OS Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

Then I get just the following, the on black screen only:

It hangs here and after a minute or so I hear the hard drive making to click or thunk type noises then it pause a repeats every few seconds over and over.

By the way I already have the paid version of diskpatch so if there is something I need to try let me know.

Right, that's bad. The messages you get indicate that the first boot actions are successful. This means that the structures that are responsible for these first steps are ok, and that means that DiskPatch can't help. So it's a windows problem, caused by a disk that's going bad (from the sound of your description). You should run a disk health check and see what the status of the disk is. It sounds like the disk is dying and should be replaced as soon as possible.

Getting stuff from the disk at this point is going to be tricky. If you don't have backups and/or need data from this disk, cloning is the way to go. Or you could try running iRecover on the drive directly, but that may actually make things worse (kill the disk quicker).

Yes the health check was bad..  I am now cloning using 2 full pass.  So far 23% complete an 10 skipped blocks.
