New User DP Log File

Greetings,
 I'm using WinXP Sp3, can't boot , even in Safe Mode, only black screen and cursor.
I think  the problem is from AVG9. AVG message indicated a "reboot", and that's when the problem started.

Looks like a simple problem; the main partition is not set active so nothing boots. You can easily fix that with MBRtool, or DiskPatch. MBRtool is freeware but a tad complicated (for power users). To fix this with DiskPatch you'd need a license.

If you want to use MBRtool you'll need to active the NTFS partition (the first one in the MBR, the type '7'). The MBRtool manual explains all.

 I want to purchase the "bundle". The Personal Version is for 1 user on 1 computer, I want to install on the good computer and use on the broken computer. I have 2 computers, but use 1 at a time. Do I need a Pro License to do this?

No, that'll be fine. Pro is meant for people that use the tool to perform repairs for others, in a commercial situation.

When I went to MBR related tasks the disk was already set to Active, and still won't boot.
I tried the Repairs-Rebuild Partion Tables and Rebuild Boot Sectors, and reset the attribute to Active, and still won't boot.

The new log is a scan for a different disk, this doesn't help me. Also, I don't recall suggesting repairs, now finding the cause may be more difficult than needed because the situation has changed and I don't have a good idea of what happened because I'm now seeing a different disk. I'm assuming the first log is not a log for the disk that has problems, given the fact that it's the second disk in the system.

Maybe you should try something a little different. Create a bootable windows XP cd and use that to start the PC. Try to access the volumes and see if you can access/see files. That way you'll know if the volumes themselves at least are ok. If so, we can look at why the booting doesn't work. Do not run chkdsk or other disk repair stuff.

Or use a Linux distro that allows NTFS access, like the Knoppix CD boot version.

Finally, try a MBR boot code refresh, maybe there's something not good with the MBR itself. Look in the MBR menu in DiskPatch.

The first log was for 129, the boot disk is 128, if I am reading the report correctly.I don't know how they were switched. The reason I tried the other procedures was probably due to frustration, and I was aware of an Undo and the files were backed up. I am enclosing another log file taken directly from the DP boot disk start up menu. I can view my disks using a Windows Disk, and can enter Repair Mode and use DOS comands to navigate to other directories.

I don't know if this is exactly the same as the previous file, and I will await your suggestions before I really screw things up.

This log doesn't show anything out of the ordinary, at first glance. If you can access the files, as you say, you can also backup the stuff that needs backing up. As such you CAN access your data. Strictly speaking, that's what we're here for, we don't fix anything windows related, or boot problems and such. If you can access your data we have done our job. I understand though that this can be a frustrating outcome.

I don't know where to go from here. I can't tell why the PC won't boot, I'm not at the screen so I can't perform the tests I'd like to perform. Is there any indication that Windows boots but doesn't get to the logon screen? Any messages, disk activity? Any sign that the booting starts but doesn't complete?

If you can access the disks you could check to see if the necessary files are there. Files like boot.ini and ntldr. Maybe the boot problem comes from missing windows files, not all that far fetched considering the AVG involvement.
