I have a dell laptop whose hard drive has failed.  When I attempt to boot up, the system can not boot up.  I started to run diskpatch to scan the surface but it stated that it will take approximately 40 days or so to complete.  Another program I tried stated that it will take over 100 days to complete.  There is just too many boot sector read problems.  I ran the disk health report and here it is.  Could you please suggest a best course of data to recover the data that is on the disk.

Hello,

it appears the disk surface is in pretty bad shape. If still posible, clone it. If the disk contains mission critical data then you should consider sending the disk to a data recovery company.

Do not run more surface scans etc..

If I attempt to clone it will it hurt the drive more?  Can you recommend for me a disk recovery place that I can send the drive to?  How much does this service usually go for?

Hello,

Anything you do with this disk will put some load on it, cloning will too. On the other hand, if you clone with DiskPatch it will try to minimize this stress.

The first thing they will attempt in a data recovery center is try cloning the disk with software very similar to DiskPatch. I recommend you get in touch with http://www.retrodata.co.uk. They're good, reliable + prices are very fair.
