I saw the note about not installing to the same drive, but is the same array ok?  Here are the details: Dell SC1410 server with CERC controller, 2 SATA drives, RAID 1 array only, Windows Server 2003.  System boots.  Three partitions, the Dell partition, C: (OS), and D: (data - this is the partition that now appears to be raw).  System was running earlier today, but having problems making backups.  Chkdsk was set to run on boot, but did not because the partition now appears to be raw.  System is bootable, but there appears to be no partition on D: after the reboot.  Seems like diskpatch would do it.  Should/could I install dispatch on the C: drive?  then send the log to support?

Yes, I'd think so. If there is a potentially damaged volume that you wish to repair, and you are fairly certain that the damage is only there, then installing in a working volume (and staying away from the damaged volume) should be fine. Just try to make sure that nothing writes to the damaged volume, and that you do nothing to the damaged volume (like windows repair options and stuff).
