Ok, the story is this. I was busy in windows vista.

It crashed and i was forced to do a manual shutdown.
When it rebooted it had an issue  and kept on rebooting.

In safemode boot the reboot issue came up with disk crc.

I tried spinright to get the disk checked out. With that failing they pointed me here. I downloaded disk patch, but I think that was a mistake. It seems that he actual option I should have taken was iRecover.
After I did a disk patch partition and MRB repair, the data still can't be accessed.

It is a dell inspiron 1525 notebook.

I just need to gain access to the drive so that I can recover some of my files then I can do a format Or just replace the HDD

Here is the first report I generated from my atemtps to get it to work

Hello,

Where's the Spinrite thread, please point to it.

Partition wise there is nothing wrong with the disk: that is, if you are expecting one NTFS partition to be present. It appears there is a problem with the disk itself. The RAW SMART values show things I can not explain easily, I'd be guessing what's going on. What I do see that currently there is ONE sector pending for reallocation (means the sector can't be read and it's contents are probably beyond rescue). What's odd is that there are NO reallocated sectors at this point according to RAW SMART data, but it has been trying to reallocate hundreds of times. What it has been trying to reallocate I don't know, and if it has been trying to reallocate but failed, I can only guess at that. It looks weird, and that tells me, don't trust this hard disk.

There's two ways to approach this:

1. try to fix the disk, this is the option which involves some risk. You'd run a read/write surface scan with DiskPatch giving the disk the opportunity to discover failing sectors and to reallocate them. Better is:

2. clone/image the disk, you'd need a disk at least the same size to clone the disk to. Both disks preferably connected as directly as possible (so no USB enclosures etc.) to a desktop PC. DiskPatch will clone to a new disk 1 : 1. Alternatively iRecover can 'image' a disk to file.

Whichever of the above options used, all readable sectors will be cloned/imaged. Data contained in damaged sectors can't be rescued. Depending on what's in those sectors (empty / file system structures / file data) there may be followup steps required, like running iRecover file recovery.
