I posted in the general forum earlier and I am almost done but I need a little more help. I used disk patch to recover partitions from a 2 partition server 2003 drive. One partition was all system stuff and the other partition was all shared items. I got the shared items partition back but the system one is corrupted. It shows up in "my computer" when I use the hard drive as a slave but when I try to open it it says it is corrupted.

Should I run a chkdsk on it or should I do something else with the disk patch first. I have repaired the partitions as well as the boot sectors with disk patch already.

Also does it matter if i run chkdsk on the drive from my XP machine since the drive is from a server 2003 machine?

I ran chkdsk on the partition and now everything is there that was before but the machine still wont boot it hangs once the hard drive starts to boot, almost like a boot file is messed up or something.

Wehn I hook the drive up as a slave on my other machine I can see both partitions and the WINDOWS folder is there along with everything else, i cant figure out why it wont boot up though.

You're not a very patient man, now are you?  Smiley
I've posted a reply in the other thread, please read that. It seems though that your problems concerning the disk part are fixed, and that it has now become a windows problem. Post the requested logs and maybe we can see something, but if you have your data back we're sort of done: the data is all that matters and windows troubles are an entirely different problem.

Correct I am not patient at all, I am a very anxious person especially when i get in a bind, probably my weak area when it comes to repairing systems. Anyway I got everything fixed and the server is back up and running and all the shared data (extremely important) was there once the disk patch fixed the partition (very easy tool). I couldnt get a log because the floppy drive was busted.

And yes it was a windows problem in the end and since I got all the important data on the one partition I reinstalled Server 2003 on the other partition to save time and headache, all is well.
