Hi all,

I was recovering from a M/B failure and I ended up killing the MBR for my HDD.  I was trying to set up a new RAID mirror and mistakenly wiped the MBR(I think)

all of the data should still be on the drive because I knew as soon as I hit the button that I had screwed up, and I went no further.

any help on this would be appreciated.

Hello,

Yes, te MBR is as good as blank, no bootcode no partition tabe. You should be able to fix this using DiskPatch. rebuild partition table and 'write fresh boot code', then set an active partition. Should be 5 minutes work.

1. http://www.diydatarecovery.nl/dp_manual/guide_ptrepair.htm - repair partition table

2. http://www.diydatarecovery.nl/dp_manual/guide_mbrrefresh.htm - insert MBR bootcode

3. http://www.diydatarecovery.nl/dp_manual/guide_partattr.htm - set active partition

that worked!!!

Thanks for the help.  That's the best $69 I have ever spent.

I had files/data/e-mails that were over 10yrs old on those drives and I thought they might be gone for good

I am a lifelong customer now.
